First things first,
DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?
If You Have Private Insurance:
Finding mental healthcare that accepts your type of private insurance in Marin County can be challenging. In fact, the majority of mental health professionals do not take insurance. It can be frustrating trying to find a therapist who takes your insurance and when you finally do, often times the choices are very limited.
Although therapists who agree to work with insurance companies are few and far between, many will prepare "superbills" for you to submit to your insurance provider. And if you cannot afford full fees, ask about receiving a sliding scale adjustment to the fees.
In addition, many of the therapy resources and programs listed in the Finding Help section are available on a sliding scale.

If You Are Low Income And/Or No Insurance:
If you are low income and/or do not have insurance for your teen, Medi-Cal is a public health insurance program which provides needed health care services, including mental health care, for low-income individuals including families with children.
In Marin County, there are numerous, excellent resources available that ONLY accept Medi-Cal. Although you may not qualify for Medi-Cal yourself, see the chart below to see if your teen does.
According to the Covered California income guide, children under 19 years of age who enroll on Obama Care California plans may qualify for Medi-Cal when the family has a household income of 266% or less.
